Tour DVD

I didn't hear anything about Hamish Hamilton (Band's director) checking things at Rogers Centre, he usualy checks all the angles and inspects eveything prior to the shows to be filmed.

I don't think that a DVD will be filmed this year, and I don't think that Hamish will be the one filming whatever DVD is eventually filmed.

Yeah, like I've said in other threads.. I hope a DVD comes out after Songs of Ascent comes out so we can have at least live footage of songs from 2 new albums and a couple rarities that have been played so far (Electrical Storm, Your Blue Room) and NOT the same old songs that have been on the other DVDs.

I wouldn't mind a mini dvd as part of the UF remake. Like the milan dvd in the 18 singles. Something with about 10 songs from amsterdam, wembley or boston!

I hope so, they are kind of lame on their own but together as one feature would be pretty cool.

I really hope we get some decent bonus stuff this time around, usually we don't get much substance with the extras on these live DVDs...

I hoping for the idea as someone else mentioned, as two DVDs. One for the first 2 legs, then one for the 2nd two, after Songs Of Ascent is hopefully released.

Also, I hope they choose one of the shows with Your Blue Room, Stay, or UTEOTW. A pro-shot of Your Blue Room would be great, as in my opinion, it came out a lot better live on it's debut than Electrical Storm did.

I just hope that whatever gets released is sourced from one full show rather than multiple shows spliced together. And no studio edits or 'fix ups' either please.

^ I agree andrew, except in the case that the use the 'safe' setlist for the show. If they slot in something they didnt play (eg if YBR isnt plaed, but they film it another night so it can go in) i dont have an issue with that

This leg, they've started to move away from a fixed definition of a 'safe' setlist... and God only knows what the setlist will look like this time next year, especially if SOA comes out in the meantime.

They ... have? They've just been shuffling around the same old songs at the start of the main set a bit, and apart from ditching Pride, nothing has changed from UF onwards.

What? This is all we've gotten from U2 with the exception of R&H. Granted they may have a bit or two spliced in from the previous night but that's it...

I would MUCH rather have several shows so they have several performances and can pick and choose the best...

What I meant is that there's less of a distinction between a 'safe' and a 'non-safe' setlist, unlike, for instance, the two Wembley nights.

I see what you mean dig. I spose I am seeing it more from Ax's perspective and was talking more about the songs that appear on the DVD rather than the order. I am one who doesnt particularly care what they play, and dont like setlist moaning, but by the same token, there havent been many 'surprises' lately, just really order changes, which in and of themselves are welcome

Looks like it could be another US shot DVD, from Willies diary

"It's an entirely different experience from up there and in terms of the spectacle in many ways it's a better vantage point than from lower down. We moved around the building a good deal during the show, which was really fun as well as being highly educational. We're going to be shooting this show some time soon, so it's crucial to understand how it looks from all angles and really the only way to do this properly is to get on yer boots and tramp around the stadium. I really enjoy being in amongst the audience anyway - especially looking back at a section of seats when I know something special is about to happen to see people's reactions. It's a real privilege to bring so much happiness to some many people at one time."

Upcoming 360 dvd?

Hi everyone,

Is there any information available about the upcoming tour dvd? I heard rumours that the Wembley shows were taped?

Thanks in advance:up:

I'm thinking the only possible US site left to film would be the Rose Bowl. It's one of the few left sold out that's outdoors and seating all the way around. This stage is crying out for some great aerial outdoor shots, they'd be foolish to film it indoors.

They were filmed by the BBC, but not for a DVD, I believe. All U2 shows are recorded to some degree, by U2 internally, using the normal screen cameras and the like, for archival purposes.

I think we will get the 2 dvds. Considering they released 3 taped shows from the last tour. Milan, Chicago and Brazil. Just no one is totally sure if a show has already been filmed for a release, or will happen. Just hope something gets released whilst UTEOTW, YBR, UV, UF, Crazy Tonight and stuck acoustic are in the set!

Thought they'd be waiting until the US/Euro/Aussie leg next year, with potential SOA songs in the setlist.

That said  Ultraviolet and Crazy tonight will make the cut.

Thanks for your reply. Didn't know it was the BBC taping. I'm familiar with the recording by U2 themselves tough.

I hope they do wait.

And seriously, how could they NOT include those two on the dvd??? They're the best songs of the tour together with UF!

Why does everyone want them to wait until next year? Why not have U2 360 2009: No Line on the Horizon, AND U2 360 2010: Songs of Ascent?? I know I'd buy both, especially because if and when new songs are rotated in, some of the stuff from this year's tour will be lost for the DVD, just like how I wish we had a proper film of AB ZooTV shows.

Also, BBC filmed Wembley?? Might we be getting some sort of broadcast?

I think people want them to wait for the next album to come out before they release a new concert DVD because songs like With Or Without You, Sunday Bloody Sunday, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, Beautiful Day, Elevation, Still Haven't Found..., One, etc have been released on multiple concert DVDs over the years.

Songs from NLOTH and SOA plus Your Blue Room, Electrical Storm, Ultraviolet, and UF (though it finally made its way to DVD on the Joshua Tree Paris Show DVD) would be great for a DVD.
