i am undoubtedly incredibly biased here... but this is why Gary, Keith and Ron are the best in the business. (and yes, Keith is on vacation) yes, they're entertaining. but they are not afraid to criticize the home team when something goes wrong. they are undoubtedly rooting for the Mets - but have zero issue calling players out when they don't do the right thing, and are unafraid of getting the ire of the team because ownership knows full well that the fan base would riot if they ever tried to break them apart.

every time broadcast booths get rated - they're certainly in the top 2 or 3, and typically picked first. and it blows my mind that other teams who have, shall we say, not quite critical broadcast booths - don't see that and say "huh - maybe we shouldn't handcuff our announcers from telling the truth"

perhaps someone could share this with Michael Kay and get his opinion.

Keith, Gary, and Ron are great. No doubt. They tell it like it is. But Michael Kay and Co. are pretty consistent with calling out players when they don't do what they're supposed to do fundamental-wise. I wouldn't be surprised if Michael and Co. mention Severino's failure to back up home plate TWICE on his afternoon radio/tv show. Michael is more critical of the Yankees during his radio show, but it's not all rainbows and unicorns in Yankee Universe. The Yankees have played terribly the last month, and the announcers frequently cite their shortcomings throughout the game. As you know, Yankee fans are spoiled and when they go on these prolonged slumps, fans want them to fire Boone or trade everybody. I've wanted them to fire Cashman for years, but still no luck. Lol!

oh i have no doubt that Michael Kay will call out Severino multiple times today...

Oh, and by the way, thank goodness for the All Star Game being on tonight. There's something else on tonight of which I do not speak, and I can escape the madness with the ASG.
