What the actual, actual fuck. The Hip are massive, probably more popular than Rush and Bryan Adams.
As exhibited by what? Their dozens of fans? Rush still fills amphitheatres and arenas. The hip is a marginal theatre act.

Well, it was why I did say "now."
This is quite possibly the dumbest thing you've ever written here. I'm sorry, not only are they nowhere NEAR as big as Bryan Adams and a Rush...seriously? Bryan Adams??? Lmao....they massively suck balls. Just abhorrent crap, mostly outside of one or two songs we've had shoved down our throats to the point of being sick. I cringe every time someone refers to them as somehow representative of Canadian rock.

Jesus fucking Christ, do you not understand the use of descriptors to clarify things for people who are unfamiliar with something? Is it that difficult to understand that "Canada's U2" isn't fucking LITERAL, it's meant to explain that the Hip are a massively popular band. Maybe you can't see that because your personal taste prevents you from evaluating a fact, but they are massive. Get back to reality when you're done crying over the lack of Ford More Years.
Anyway, I think that the Hip probably are just as popular as Rush in Canada. I got my ticket to see Rush a couple of weeks before the show and got moved from the 300s to the fist level because it was only half sold. It was the second of two shows. Rush are one of my favorite bands, but you're overstating their popularity.

Ahahaha this failed diss again. It's incredible that this is your go-to when I've never even voted in a Toronto election...BECAUSE I CANT. Lol. Then again, I console myself by knowing that it comes from the guy who thinks the Hip are bigger than Bryan Adams.

What I'm doing there is calling you an idiot; you seem like the type who'd support that buffoon because you can't understand a basic analogy.
Duly noted, you're in the habit of name calling when you lose.
Brian Adams is a certifiable international megastar, with 17 million sold...according to his agent 60 million worldwide. Rush I think is around 25 million now. The Hip? A fraction of either those two numbers. Talk about cherry picking your facts!
And this guy calls people idiots

I wonder why U2 can't do one show in each city that's 'free.' When I say 'free', I mean included in your U2.com sub. So, that show is specifically for fan club members. You get a code and apply for tickets. Your name goes into a draw for that show. The draw takes place and you get a ticket if you are drawn. Your allocation location at the show is random so if you get GA, great. If you don't, it's just luck of the draw. Ticket limit is two and all tickets are physical tickets with your name, address and U2.com membership number printed on them. You have to attend the show with two forms of id, both showing your name and address... like a utility bill or bank statement. As the whole show would be a U2.com show then everybody knows what to expect and what the drill will be. Also, because of the 'lottery' aspect of the ticket allocation you're never going to think that you could have got better tickets as it was all random and dictated by the draw. You may get lucky, you may not. There would still be general sale shows if you wanted to try again.
There would be no presale situation, no stress or anxiety. You just apply for the show and wait for your allocation.
Just a thought.
Is it that hard to understand that I'm talking about Canadian success (as you were), and that they were used as an example for ticket prices at the ACC?
Canada's not looking good here.
[and BTW, Gabe...this offer is to you first...if for some reason the day comes for T02 and my wife can not come (and so much shit is going on lately that that is not out of the realm - now if i get sent to brazil or some ugly place for work that will piss me off], I'll make sure you can come along with me as my other GA.... ...although i am not lining up so you'll have to deal with that. i will gladly bud in line and wait until all you guys run to the front....] and i am an old guy. just warning you.

Well, Celine Dion has sold 200 million records worldwide, by far making her the biggest selling Canadian artist of all time. Actually one of the biggest selling artists of all time, period, even more than our favourite Irish quartet.
Wouldn't that make her the Canadian U2?
Just sayin'.
So, you are Wendy and your wife is Kevin then, right.
Celine Dion is not a rock artist.
.....
I think Celine is pretty awesome, actually.

I think we can really derail this thread if I throw Shania Twain into the argument as well. Have at it.
i think that is right. although i would never go to a concert of hers. well, i probably would if it was free for me...
