2029 it is.
I wonder how much releases like those are now worth to a band like U2 and their label in terms of the money needed to be spent on marketing & production vs the income they're likely to generate? It's the same old thing over and over again. No new album this year is what I said early this year. And yes, we should've heard at least one little thing about it. U2Songs were sure the album would be released in fall 2024. It will be fall 2025 at earliest. No problem to me if they would finally open their vaults and release Lovetown, TJT30, Songs of Surrende Bono show, pop deluxe, 5.1 atmos albums on blu ray, Songs of Ascent. Instead of the hyped releases on streaming and streaming already released shows for two days only.
It's time to retire or listen to what fans want.
Time to 'dream it all over again'. And WITH Larry.
Haha yep. I would take actual studio versions of "All My Life", "For Your Love", etc. I have a lot of interest in early versions of NLOTH songs as well. I remember the Beach Clip of "Crazy Tonight" not sounding so bubble gummy.i would welcome a new U2 album. i don't NEED a new U2 album.
i'd rather they spend their energy on playing live and touring.
to be perfectly honest... my preference would be that they focus on touring and opening up the vaults. we know there isn't much time left here. if SOA is actually done? release it.Haha yep. I mean they've been issuing remastered hi res versions of every single for a few months now so I assume this is just the continuanceSpeaking of... what the hell is with this Beautiful Day remaster. Like... what's Remastered? Who was asking for that? It just sounds like... Beautiful Day? Jesus.
Yep, 100%. I have little excitement for a new album. I'm sure it'll have good moments, but I'm more about retrospect at this point. Would love some live recordings that we haven't heard yet too.to be perfectly honest... my preference would be that they focus on touring and opening up the vaults. we know there isn't much time left here. if SOA is actually done? release it.
also, ya know, it's 2024... you can work on a song at a time and just release it. so if they have something they feel is special? hey, you can keep working on it WHILE touring and playing live, and just drop it as a stand alone.
don't get me wrong - i'd be very happy with a new U2 album. but i don't need them wasting another year recording when they could be out playing.
yes, that's incredibly selfish of me and they should be able to do what they want.
but still.
Wait were the original singles not available on Spotify yet? I didn't realize that. Odd.I mean they've been issuing remastered hi res versions of every single for a few months now so I assume this is just the continuance
So sure, there's some duplication to this process. There always will be. But some of the singles they have reissued didn't exist on streaming, or were incomplete, or didn't have high res lossless versions of the B sides, etc.Wait were the original singles not available on Spotify yet? Also the remastering just seems so pointless... like... what are they remastering? They aren't old or unfinished tracks. It sounds nearly identical to the og release.
Same. Being a completist, I'm glad that I can have these all available in my library. So sure, there's some duplication to this process. There always will be. It's not like they're pushing this hard. They're just slowly going through the back catalog and updating. I definitely appreciate it.
My assumption is they had an album ready to drop, and then Biden did his thing. Now the theme of the album has to be revisited and reimaged for Harris.....
Yep, trying to remember what single came next...think it was Stuck, then Elevation
Nice to hear some live Popmart songs
I'm good with it once I realized the singles weren't already on there. I thought it was odd just barely remastering singles that were already out until I realized they didn't exist on Spotify yet.So sure, there's some duplication to this process. There always will be. Yup. I’ve been calling for digital singles for years. Easy way to keep the fanbase engaged and make it at least appear like they’re an active working bandalso, ya know, it's 2024... you can work on a song at a time and just release it. so if they have something they feel is special? hey, you can keep working on it WHILE touring and playing live, and just drop it as a stand alone
I was pleasantly surprised at the good designs for the Sphere residency, it was actually a tough choice between a few different ones--I wound up with the colored Trabant stack on black.Yeah, the t-shirt quality (in terms of the quality of the material used) has been mostly poor of late. Some of the designs leave a lot to be desired as well. However, the quality of the Zooropa 30 t-shirts last year were good (heavy cotton), and the Celebration one was also heavy cotton. Most t-shirts in the last year or two have been poor though, especially any Sphere/U2:UV t-shirts
are we still completely sure that they actually are an active working band?Yup. I’ve been calling for digital singles for years. Easy way to keep the fanbase engaged and make it at least appear like they’re an active working band
