Just keep me where the light is
I was listening to The Seventh Day on KLOS in LA this evening, that show plays three complete albums each Sunday eveningt. Tonight, in honor of its 35th anniversary, they played "Abbey Road." "Octopus's Garden" came on and instantly brought a smile to my face. I love that song, it makes me want to skip around, wave my arms, jump and laugh and shout.

Madonna's "Holiday" also overjoys me.

So, what are the songs that make you ecstatically happy?

usually just any song that i like, if i hear it on the radio or unexpectedly someone starts playing it.

oterhwise the list is rather long, and requires too much thought lest i leave half them off it.

Faith by George Michael
Never Tear Us Apart by INXS
In a Big Country by Big Country
Desire by....do I really have to tell ya'?

Just a few off the top of my head... there are plenty more! :)

You Sound Like Louis Burdett - The Whitlams
Don't Go Now - Ratcat
Beautiful Day - U2 [when I'm happy it elates me, and when I'm sad it makes me feel better - not necessarily happy, because when you're sad, sometimes you're sad for a reason - but better.]

The Monty Python Lumberjack song always makes me laugh.

and 88 Lines About 44 Women by The Nails is great!

Damn near anything by Tom Lehrer.

U2-anything
Beattles-anthing
"Deep Love" by Fleetwood Mac
"American Girl" Tom Petty
"I Alone" LIVE
"Jack and Dianne" makes me happy.
"Imagine" makes me happy.
"Sweet Home Alabama" gets me into a good mood.

"Downtown" - Petula Clark
"The Burrito Song" - Ryan Adams
"Fuck It...I Broke Your Cat" - Ryan Adams

"Rest of my life" by Sloan
"Happy Kid" by Nada Surf
"Wrecking Ball" by Creeper Lagoon
"Squeeze Box" by The Who
"When You're Young" by Ryan Adams
"Beast of Burden" by The Rolling Stones
"My Own Worst Enemy" by Lit
Pretty much anything by The Strokes (very upbeat)
and unfortunately... "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains Of Wayne

and to the complete opposite of the spectum:
"Split Screen Sadness" by John Mayer (arguably the most depressing song ever written)
"Have You Forgotten" by Red House Painters (the only opposition to the other)

Airport by Karate always brings a smile to my face. It was getting alot of radio play during the time my wife and I were dating on 97x and makes me think of her......

hard one but songs by Bowie, U2, Cure, Depeche Mode make me happy even though they sing about depressing stuff most of the time. :p

Take The Skinheads Bowling by Camper van Beethoven, because I usually put on a ludicrous American accent and sing along.
