Hola Amigos

In your opinion, which is the best ever U2 single ??

Here´s my one:

One Tree Hill ( March 1988 )

1- One Tree Hill
2- Bullet The Blue Sky
3- Running To Stand Still

One (March 1992)

1. One
2. Lady with Spinning Head
3. Satellite of Love
4. Night and Day (Steel String Remix)

The Unforgettable Fire (1985)

1. The Unforgettable Fire
2. A Sort of Homecoming (Live)
3. The Three Sunrises
4. Love Comes Tumbling
5. Sixty Seconds In Kingdom Come (Instrumental)
6. Bass Trap (Instrumental)

And...

With Or Without You (1987)

1. With Or Without You
2. Luminous Tims (Hold On To Love)
3. Walk To The Water

The Unforgettable Fire. Musical genius.

And I can't help but give 11 O'clock Tick Tock a mention.

Hhhmm... there are so many to choose from :hyper:
right now it's actually Vertigo cause it's new is spunky, but out of all singles... I think... Where the Streets Have no Name... and Still Haven't Found... guh, I tried to pic just one and it didn't work :| oh well hehe!

oh man, i love stuff like this, i'd definitely have to go with Even Better Than The Real Thing for the b-sides
1. EBTTRT
2. Salome
3. Where Did it All Go Wrong
4. Lady with the Spinning Head (extended dance mix)

but the BEST U2 SINGLE EVER, and this is an absolute fact, and if you dont own it you dont deserve to live (OK, i went overboard, but really, it is that good) is the Please single. Especially the one with the edited single version of please PLUS the 4 live tracks. Running at around 30 minutes (dont know the exact time off the top of my head) this single is more of an EP that WAIA, and should have been promoted more. Anyway, this disc includes some of U2's most stuning live performances, and the single verison of Please blows the POP version out of the water. here's the tracklisting for the poor souls who do not own this single.

1.Please (single verison)
2.Please (live, this is simply amazing)
3.Where the Streets Have No Name (live, possibly the best recorded veriosn of Streets, maybe aside form the Boston version)
4. With or Without You (live, the weakest on this disc, but still great.)
5. Staring at the sun (live, the definitive verison of this track, all acoustic)

so there you have it. Please is the mother of all singles, possibly the best deal you can get if you find it for like 6 or 7 bucks somewhere. And as far as studio b-sides go, Even Better Then The Real thing gets my vote.

Cheers.

Please

1. Please (single version)
2. Please (live from Rotterdam)
3. Where the Streets Have No Name (live from Rotterdam)
4. With or Without You (live from Edmonton)-I can't get enough of this. I listen to it constantly
5. Staring at the Sun (live from Rotterdam)

There are many great U2 singles to choose from. :uhoh:
As mentioned above, One, Even Better Than The Real Thing and the Popheart EP (the live Please single, as outside the USA the single didn't feature the single version of Please, that one was on a different single) are superb singles. Another favourite of mine is If God Will Send His Angels, with the tracks:
1. If God Will Send His Angels (single edit)
2. Slow Dancing (with Willie Nelson)
3. Two Shots Of Happy, One Shot Of Sad
4. Sunday Bloody Sunday (Edge solo version from Sarajevo)

And then there is the Australian 'live' Walk On single:
1. Walk On (video version)
2. Where The Streets Have No Name (live from Boston)
3. Stay (live from Toronto)
4. Gone (live from Boston)

Come to think of it, the 'Live Format' of the Stay single was pretty great too:
1. Stay (Faraway, So Close!)
2. Slow Dancing
3. Bullet The Blue Sky (live from Dublin)
4. Love Is Blindness (live from New York)

And so I can go on and on and on...

C ya!

Marty

One-All four songs are solid U2 tracks. Night and Day belongs on the Best of B-sides collection

Stay-This was a pretty generous offering with a great remix of Lemon, the definitive live verion of Bullet, and Bono's duet with Mr. Sinatra

Please- Staring at The Sun actually improves on the studio version, and Please live is stunning....into Streets!

I would also give honorable mention to EBTTRT, but the a-side doesn't hold up to the others I mentioned...

The old Gloria with I Will Follow (live) would have to be a cracker....

another treasure would be New Years Day with treasure as the b side

Please - Popheart (amaaaazing stuff)

And I'd like to say I'm disappointed with the lack of loving for the WOWY single.. it has 2 of U2's finest b-sides on it... Walk to the Water and Luminous Times

In addition, I really quite like..
Stay
