3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Also people were on stage before the show -- looks like audience members -- is that some VIP package thing or RED ZONE?

I didn't wear my ear plugs and I can still hear!
I believe those are folks with Vibee VIP packages. they get a backstage (and onstage) preshow tour.

That was one of my biggest takeaways from the Sphere was how great the sound quality was and my ears weren't ringing afterwards like nearly every other concert I've been to.

Headache told me this. Others too. I was lucky to see Bono at the Beacon and it was the best sound I ever heard. And tonight was the best sound I recall at a U2 show. Not that it sounds bad before. But at MSG during GA sometimes things sounded a bit off. I found MSG behind the stage to be the best sound.

So The Sphere -- maybe it also sounds different in spots but they claim it doesn't.

Even DJ wasn't too loud. I enjoyed him.

Also a couple left about 10 songs in, I don't know if they were VIP or had other seats, but they took off and I was on the aisle but there was 6 seats empty the rest of show... 4 I think never filled... and a few behind them... always sad to me.
They probably just left, there were many people going to those shows just to check out Sphere and it's the in thing to do. I saw people like that when I went. That's always going to happen at that place and in Las Vegas.

Of course it could be that the visual effects bothered them or they weren't feeling well or had some sort of emergency, you always have to consider possibilities like that.

I didn't even notice my ears not ringing, but now that I read it here yes indeed that's incredible. The sound there is superb.

Someone hit me up with the fat Bono beach picture, please. I am trying to show my husband why Bono looking like this is a huge deal. Plus you know you love to trot it out.

Also, I haven't paid attention to GA crowd size since Headache gave us his thoughts on first 2 Sept shows, but from last night i swear the floor looked twice as crowded as it has been... has the GA crowd getting bigger? Or just that is what it looks like when you're there in person and I'm just dumb?
I went first week in December then went back last weekend. It was definitely bigger but not too bad. I went in at 8p last Sat (Thanks to Miroslava!) and had this spot.

No the couple was Australian I think and the blonde lady got up 4 times to take pics down below... as the overhang... and got told to go to her seat 4 times, so she didn't leave. She just left the section. I don't know where she went.

But I agree many rich people just casually checking out the sphere and maybe U2... I knew that going in, just weird I guess to see. I've been out of concert life for a bit.

The sound is soooooo good....

One with Daniel Lanois, Don‘t Dream It‘s Over featuring Neil Finn’s prerecorded vocals (akin to Lou Reed on Zoo TV for Satellite of Love), and „40“ to end it all.

It was a good run.

(I kind of wish every show ended like that, with the screen changing colour!)

The screen changing colors is a really nice touch, I wish they realized that earlier in the residency!

And now it’s officially over. What a show and what a venue.

It says last day but it's dated March 1st, whatever it's still Dave Grohl.

I just watched 40, incredible. I like that they respected Larry and didn't have Bram doing the solo after they all walked off. Of course they wouldn't do that.

Bet many people there didn't even know 40 or the tradition behind it, what a shame. That will be one of my funeral songs.

I know nothing about Phish because I am a jam band hater, but I am somehow not at all surprised.

I always thought they were jolly, crunchy folks who are always high.

Turns out they're snobbish assholes who don't realize that nobody outside of their poncho wearing circle gives a turkey about their dumb band.
That’s most fans! But my rabbi is a nice Phish fan. The guy at work 20 years ago was not happy when I said which 3 songs did they play during their 3 hour show.

The only proper way to end the 40th and final show.
Was wondering if they'd do the one by one stage exit and leave Bram there by himself. They obviously realized that wouldn't be quite right and had Edge stay to the end with him. The color changing is quite cool. Must have been great to experience this in person for the diehards who attended last night.

Kind of sad it's over, so happy I made the trip to see the show.
