    Are You Gonna Wait Forever?

Was this song recorded during the sessions for ATYCLB or Bomb? Eno and Lanois are credited as producers so I was assuming it was intended for ATYCLB.

    Interpretation/background of 'Beautiful Ghost'

Am I alone in thinking that if I never heard Beautiful Ghost again that would be quite alright???

So what is the weakest U2 song ever, then?

Not to go overboard, but there are few U2 songs I truly dislike inside and out. There are some, though, that I don't care if I ever heard again. They would include the following: A Man and a Woman Grace Peace on Earth Red Light When Love Comes to Town

    Unknown Caller appreciation thread

Someone help me get past the "Force quit move to trash" line...or put it into context for me, please!...because I do like the song overall.

    Rate Boots!

How can the ratings for this song be so high? I must be living on Mars.

Will Vertigo or Elevation be remembered?

Those of you who think Vertigo won't be remembered as an important song for U2 are three sheets to the wind. That song singlehandedly opened up U2 to a new generation, and allowed them to continue to ride a wave of success in a market dominated by teenagers and hip hop artists.

Get On Your Boots Radio Campaign

This is like a thread you would read on a Duran Duran message board. "Please play our favorite band's new song!" Pathetic, really...that it is now happening at a U2 message board.

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

LOL. That suit will go nowhere, and you know it.

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

I'm having this issue lately as well. After listening to GOYB a few times over the weekend, I played Achtung all the way through afterwards. The comparison was not pretty.

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

Viva La Vida is just a damn good album. Eno's work is to be praised...the atmosphere of the album is great.

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

Unfortunately, this is largely true...and I speak from the same perspective as you.

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

And McCartney ripped the Beach Boys vocal style on Back in the USSR and the Who sound on Helter Skelter. He still talks about it today.

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

Oh jeez, come on... How many cases are there in general of similar melodies turning up in other people's music? How about the Chili Peppers and the accusation that they lifted the melody of Tom Petty's Mary Jane's Last Dance? Or George Harrison lifting My Sweet Lord from the Shirelles? And...

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

Again, this makes no sense. Do you think the Beatles were completely original in their early years? No, they modeled their style of singing, playing, etc. based on what Carl Perkins, Elvis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard had done before them. McCartney still does throwbacks to these artists...

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

This way of thinking makes no sense to me. It's the ultimate form of flattery for the band to have someone aspire to be Bono-esque or U2-esque. Would you rather him espouse to be will.i.am or Kelly Clarkson?

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

It's ashame so many U2 fans here are the ultimate snobs when it comes to Coldplay, constantly comparing them negatively to U2. Now I know what it must have been like to be a U2 fan in the early '80s when U2 was being bashed by the hipsters as a fake Ultravox, Television or Velvet Underground.

    GOYB Video? (Pics? 01/27/2009)

So has anyone figured out why the new video is getting a lame rollout on the Irish Independent site? What happened to using iTunes or YouTube?

Viva Eno! But has he saved the best for U2?

I certainly hope Eno worked magic on the rest of the album beyond GOYB. Viva La Vida and/or Violet Hill > GOYB

You've lived with Get On Your Boots for 5 days...

Same here, everyone knows I'm a fan and is baffled by GOYB. But most people I know loved Vertigo. I am surprised to see a sort of revisionist backlash against Vertigo now with GOYB out there.

You've lived with Get On Your Boots for 5 days...

My personal take is that comparing GOYB to previous singles is a non-starter for me. Discotheque was 12 years ago...the band was in a different place than where they are now. Next we should compare GOYB to Out of Control.

You've lived with Get On Your Boots for 5 days...

Lived with GOYB for a week now...it is such a disappointment. The worst part about the song is that the first word I would use to describe it would be "silly."

    NLOTH Pre-Order Available On iTUNES

Being a bit of a sound quality freak, downgraded mp3 files via email usually don't cut it for me, especially when it comes to U2.

    NLOTH Pre-Order Available On iTUNES

A huge thumbs down for all these scattered bonus tracks. Now I have to pre-order (and pay for) a digital download of all things to get an extra track? Bulls**t.
