Thank you so much!! Yes these are visible light. It is one of my favourite parts of a solar eclipse! Otherwise on a regular day I would need an h-alpha filter or scope and they cost an arm and a leg! The prominences are visible just when the suns edge and lunar edge are perfectly aligned so that...
Thank you so much! I was worried about the timming of this eclipse given it was in April and the weather can be so so. So I was very very happy to get good weather and to get a few shots for sure!
Here are a couple more this one was a longer exposure maybe around 1/60 second to show the corona of the eclipse better and the second one is a collage of photos showing the eclipse from start to finish.
Thank you so much Cobl! I took these images with my DSLR attached to a small 60 mm F5 refractor telescope. I have to check my files as I don’t remember exact exposure times but they were taken at ISO160 and around 1/200 second or so! The shooting of the total part of the eclipse was rather...
Here is my take of the solar eclipse. I took it from Quebec! Perfectly clear and beautiful. This is eclipse number 2 for me. Hoping to go to number 3 in Spain in 2026! This is just a quick edit as I am still not home. When I get home on Friday I’ll edit more and post some :)
Lol the negative reactions to this and the SOS album on some of the Facebook groups is hilarious. It’s like U2 committed a worse crime than adding a free album to everyone’s iPhones lol. I’ve never seen so many whiners all in one place!
Thanks for sharing Dan!! You know I was reading how these are all acoustic and was like oh no! I am not a fan of U2’s acoustic songs in general but I was very pleasantly surprised by these clips! They do seem like they are really well done! Now I’m actually excited by this! Stories for boys...
I was bitting my nails during the launch lol. I’m so happy it all went so flawlessly and that now it’s taking some incredibly amazing pictures and science! So excited to see what awesome discoveries this scope will bring!!
Oh that’s very cool!! I find solar eclipses so amazing! By far the most amazing astronomical event to see in person! Did you ever get a chance to see one live?
Hello all, haven’t been on much as of late as I’ve been pretty busy these days! :( but I did get a chance to take a week off and take my scopes out to a dark location. Got many pics, here are three of them. I’ll post more as I process them. The pictures are of M13 (the Hercules globular...
