The War demos are studio takes. 13 versions of Two Hearts and single versions of Surrender, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Like A Song are all rough studio takes.
I agree, the Unforgettable Fire "demos" sound like soundcheck and or tour rehearsal stuff and not actual studio outtakes.
It may have influenced a few more shows in some cities. But it did not influence whether the tour was going to happen. If U2 had played Australia as scheduled originally on the Joshua Tree tour, the Lovetown tour probably would not have happened regardless of the Rattle and Hum success there...
The band have indicated all of that after the fact. I do not think they would show that they were in turmoil for a documentary that was shot during the tour. But it is well documented by the band, afterwards that they were.
Lovetown occurred to make up for the Joshua Tree tour dates for...
Larry was definitely referring to Lovetown with the jukebox comment. But I think you could infer JT tour partially as well as Lovetown was sort of a continuation of the JT tour.
I remember Edge commented that they absolutely loved the 2 hours on stage for this tour but for almost everything...
Kind of tired of it. I listened to it so much before Achtung was released from the Hansa tapes I was burned out on it. I do include it sometimes and if I do it would be like this:
Zoo Station
Even Better Than The Real Thing
One
Until The End Of The World
Down All The Days
Heaven Or Hell...
I tend to make the albums with B sides into double albums and change some of he order and include covers.
IE
Rattle and Hum Studio
Hawkmoon 269
Desire
Van Diemens Land
Hallelujah Here She Comes
Unchained Melody
Everlasting Love
Jesus Christ
Angel Of Harlem
When Love Comes To Town
Love Rescue...
Detroit is also possible, they played two nights there on Vertigo and "technically" have not played there since. (Lansing is an hour to hour and half away).
It was played for several reasons. Fan brought it to Bono's attention. He remembered a fact about writing the song and probably thought that was cool to bring up. Most importantly, they had already rehearsed it and played it. So it only required a run through at sound check.
Some fans...
Wow, Edge trying out Bullet for this tour. Astonishing! ;)
Not sure where Zooropa would fit in the set. NYD probably in the 2nd slot on a rotational basis.
Good song, great bonus track. Live it is OK. They need to rehearse it more. Should have made the album but does not bother me that it didn't. When I make a playlist of the full album I include it and Invisible. So no big deal to me. This day in age it doesn't matter as much as long as it...
The @u2 party was different, otherwise I don't think the band are anymore accessible than they have been in the past. They have always made an effort to meet fans for autographs and pictures. Which says a lot for an artist at their level.
I will believe they are more "fan" oriented when...
Miracle is not their greatest opener but not even close as poor of an opener that was Breathe. I think the intro guitar when the lights go out on Miracle sort of works when that first hits. Loses momentum from there. But still decent opening, just not an awesome one like Streets, Mofo or Zoo...
Maybe U2 do not feel like playing them. When they started doing Discotheque on the Vertigo tour Edge wasn't enjoying it and did not think it worked with the tour. So it was nixed.
I think it is mixture of playing hits they think have to be done and what they feel like doing in...
