TICKET DROPS Thread II

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Has there been a U2 show that was "Out of the Box" regarding setlist. I can't remember any? Maybe Boston 4 from Elevation (6/01). They just rearranged the setlist I believe, but played the same basic songs. Or the extra 1 or 2 songs post-shows at special ones (10/27/01, etc.)

Anaheim 2 during 360. It was glorious.

I do have to say, I roll my eyes hard at people that are STILL asking for GA for today, face value of course, with no plan B on hand. GA or bust!

I mean I should point out that there were tickets for these shows for months... and last week... sure they were expensive ones... but they were there until recently.

GA has been impossible since 5 minutes into sale or if you go lucky at Box Office. So right there, I know some fans only want those, so they miss out on other seats.

My questions is, how do the line whores get GAs to all the shows? Corruption?

Yeah I never thought about that. There are people who have been to 10+ shows in multiple cities and been in GA most if not every night. How could that be possible? Unless they're paying in the hundreds on resale which makes it possible.

I thought if there's a group of people they could each be buying multiple tickets a night for each other, but wasn't there a limit to number of GA tickets each person could buy?

I do recall the people that annoyed me in line where the U2 fans that already had GA tickets, she made it known, but kept going in and out of the pen to help her friends get tickets... there were friends just hanging out the side going back and forth... so they already had tickets, but they were trying for more... so it's not just resellers that are hoarding tickets either.... everyone wants to be in control...

Yes, just get in the building. Sec 420 rocked!

One person I know had multiple fanclub memberships including one for a pet. So yeah, some of those folks have no room to talk.

Me, I went to 6 shows, was able to score GAs in the general sale for 3 of them, along with 2 shows using presale, then a GA drop a day before the other one.

Just read this on FB page LOL!!

The CBS news is heading over to MSG to check it out!! Be on the lookout everyone who is there....i just got an email back telling me this...pass the word and go get em!!!

There's a guy there who is a producer for a news station in Florida who knows who to call in this instance. This is going to go DOWN, baby. Going to get pretty wild - this is going to be a fun afternoon!

Yeah, I have heard of multiple memberships too, pets included. Too rich for my blood to drop $50.00 x whatever number of accounts, but I don't hate the players that play that game.

I overheard a conversation at a show with a fan who I know is one of those that go to as many shows as possible. In a nutshell, the conversation was pretty in depth in terms of ticket drops, which makes me think that some fans might make plans to travel to all the shows they can with or without a ticket, and then take their chances on the GA if and when more tickets are released.

That might not explain every single situation for this tour (I agree that the multiple memberships probably accommodates for a lot too), but it sort of made sense to me when I heard this fan talking about it.

A small amount of tickets popped up on TM website about an hour ago. They were gone before I could click on 2 and go to the next page.

I haven't seen anything in a week. What did you see? 300 dollar ones?

We all assume they are coming back to North America like they always do and will probably pay at least 4 more shows at MSG right?

Probably. Though there is a chance they do stadiums next time also.

Some other stuff:

For the U2 fans impacted today, know that your tweets HAVE been seen by U2's own staff via Twitter & they are now investigating. #U2ieTour

@atu2comSherry I was kicked out of the garden after getting my tickets today. Second time being mistreated and KICKED OUT of the venue. #U2

Not sure what management can do about scalpers, but its nice they paid attention. Also wondering what SilRigote means...she picked up tickets, presumably GA, and they made her leave the building? Isn't that what they always do...it doesn't open that early to fans.

First off, I hope the scalpers and the security get into some serious problems, because this is not ok.

Having said, there is an angle of entitlement from some of these fans. Which by the way, as far as I'm concerned, anything over 6-8 shows this leg goes into 'excessive' territory, and you should probably balance your life better.

I agree with you on both counts. I went to 6 and I felt that it was too much, lol. However, I had genuine from-Ticketmaster tickets for all of them, and OMG, SOME OF THEM WERE IN SEATS! One show we managed to pull GAs the night before, so we bought a second set of tickets and gave our seats to a grateful friend. Had I not got tickets for those shows though, I would not have went to those cities, because I don't think I really need to see them 4 million times.

After getting tickets? It's not unusual for venue staff to ask folks to leave after they have made a purchase at the box office and not loiter in the lobby. Maybe there's more to this story, but it sounds like sensationalism.

GA is always my go to for any show, but if I can't a GA, I will take seats. Being in the building is the most important. I'm also proud to say I didn't do any lists this tour, just showed up at the venue at various times, getting wristbands for a few shows, showing up after doors for a few and it was glorious.

Is it tomorrow yet?

Can't come soon enough! I am going to enjoy sitting in a hot tub with a beer tonight, NOT listening to the U2 show on Periscope. When I wake up tomorrow I'll check U2gigs for a setlist, and breathe a big sigh of relief that my timeline on FB will largely go back to cat videos, as it should be. :D

I admit that I will see U2 as many times as I can reasonably afford without going bankrupt. I love going to U2 shows. It's like a religious experience to me.

But please note that I said "reasonably afford without going bankrupt." I'm not going to spend my very last penny on any concert. So we know I'm good at budgeting.

And I also believe that I'd rather be in the building than not at all. I prefer GA. But if my only option at a venue was a seat, I'd take a seat.

I have multiple memberships... but it's just me and my husband having the memberships. He got the second one so that I could get into the presale for one of the Chicago shows I wanted to go to. I do not think this is an abuse of the system. I mean, cuz now, we're paying $100, getting two membership gifts, and two sets of presale codes. We're paying for it. And I did not sign up my cat.

I have no problems with people having multiple memberships if they want to pay for all those...
