    ATYCLB 20th Anniversary Box Set

Has anyone managed to hear the remix of ‘Walk On’ (by Wyclef Jean)? Is it any good?

Summer of Love - Appreciation Thread

I just found the full song, 'Colors' by One Republic, and it appears the guitar riff in 'Summer of Love' is not from that song as the earlier video led us to believe. That earlier video was botched together and badly edited, giving us the illusion that the 'Summer of Love' riff was 'Colors'...

    U2's Next Album?/Songs of Ascent?

I have this fantasy that Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois will produce one more album with newly recorded and produced versions of these songs: 1) All My Life 2) My Time Hasn't Come 3) Winter (the original concept) 4) Book of Your Heart (imagine this with the Eno/Lanois treatment!?) They could...

SOE first U2 album without Bono's Trademark Falsetto?

I could be wrong, but it seems like Bono's falsetto is missing from SOE. Now I haven't meticulously checked, song by song, but just going from memory it seems this is the case. Bono's falsetto has always been a trademark of U2's albums, and a big part of U2's general emotiveness and has always...

    Alternate Tracklist SOE

Any tracklist that doesn't include 'Book of Your Heart' is simply not the correct tracklist ;-) It's taken a few days of experimentation, but I believe this is the best one: 1) Love is All We Have Left 2) Lights of Home (String) 3) You're The Best Thing 4) The Blackout 5) Get Out of Your Own...

Book Of Your Heart (U2 saved the best for last)!

The more time I spend time with this album, the more I keep going back to this song. Imagine a full U2 album written in this vein? It would be like a JT/AB hybrid. The lines that really pull me in are... Ask the leaf and ask the bird Not to sing or speak a word We are not fictitious characters...

Your Favourite Track Sequence For SOE

Ok, on second thought maybe I do prefer Book of Your Heart after Love is All We Have Left! But You're the Best Thing needs to go after American Soul. Great lead into Summer of Love... 1. Love Is All We Have Left 2. Book of Your Heart 3. Lights of Home (String) 4. Get Out Of Your Own Way 5...

Your Favourite Track Sequence For SOE

For those who think Book of Your Heart sounds like a b-side, try putting it behind American Soul. It sounds like a freaking classic in contrast, and surprisingly fits beautifully there. It also sounds great behind Love is All We Have Left, (but for entirely different reasons). The only problem...

Book Of Your Heart (U2 saved the best for last)!

For those who think this song sounds like a b-side, try putting it behind American Soul. It sounds like a freaking classic in contrast. It also sounds great behind Love is All We Have Left, (but for entirely different reasons). Actually Book of Your Heart is really the only song that sonically...

SOE Holdouts until 12/1- The End is Near

I would concur. "Epic U2" - (the type of Bono sort of singing from a mountain top or a field or a castle or a desert) - ended around 1988 after 'All I Want is You'. Epic U2 also seemed to coincide with Bono's long hair, strangely enough. As funny as it sounds, that spiritual pilgrim look was a...

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

Yes, we must have similar tastes! I really believe Book of Your Heart deserves to be on the proper album. The ending is epic, (and the first half also very alluring with its electronic elements). Also maybe the best lyrics on the album.

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

I started off feeling the same way about American Soul, but now that I can hear the atmospherics of the album, I am appreciating it much more. I especially like the "Brother John" background vocals. Very psychedelic Beatles, and with a 70s groove.

SOE Holdouts until 12/1- The End is Near

Nice breakdown. I would say 'Little Things' definitely exceeds 'Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own' and maybe even 'Moment of Surrender'. What did you think of 'Book of Your Heart' by the way? That song is rather epic, I'd say.

SOE 35 - it’s finally here, let the debate on how good/bad it is begin!

My favourite is 'Book of Your Heart'. This particular track is the best thing they've done since Achtung Baby. It's like Leonard Cohen guest appearing on The Joshua Tree, but then arriving via time machine to Hansa Studios in Berlin in 1991 to record it with Achtung era U2 instead of Joshua...

SOE 34: If there is a leak, don't let it go unheard

Why oh why could they not have included Winter and Soon instead of those?! Would have been a classic.

    The Showman (little more better)

Saul says All My Life is not on the album. I can't believe how U2 can leave a chorus like that off an album. It's possibly the best chorus they've come up with since Angel of Harlem. I mean, it just defies all logic, to the point that one must wonder if they have no memory of it whatsoever.

SOE FAN + industry reviews only

Kite, Miss Sarajevo, and Stay are the three greatest U2 songs written since 1993 IMO (with Stay being the greatest out of all 3). Kite is a near perfect song (if only Bono didn't try to rhyme "media" with "idea" with that deplorable last line).

I must say, I agree! War was a very good album with two or three classic songs....but Unforgettable Fire was a classic album despite having the same number of classic songs. That is the difference for me when Brian and Danny are in the studio. As Bono once said, "They just force you to be...

Fair enough. We all have different tastes. I just prefer my U2 served with Eno and a side of Danny, Lanny.

SOE FAN + industry reviews only

I think I am biased for the Eno/Lanois side of U2...but tell me, is there anything as transcendent as Kite or the ending of Walk On or the subtle background upliftment of Beautiful Day that permeates those songs like daylight? To me that's just it. Eno & Lanois give sunlight and air to U2's...

SOE FAN + industry reviews only

I think it's because that, despite Bomb having more track for track consistency than ATYCLB (every track is a solid 7-8), most agree that ATYCLB has more unquantifiable "greatness" (Beautiful Day, Walk On, Kite, and In A Little While have a particular magic that propels those tracks to a...
