    B&C Best of 2017 - Discussion Thread

Ax, COBL: thanks for the recommendations from down under. Quite enjoying what I'm hearing -- and yes, Gang of Youths is obviously very similar to The National, which is great in my book.

Great track, and like the subtle callback to Raised by Wolves in the opening guitar.

The Little Things That Give You Away - Appreciation Thread

Exactly. A fantastic song, but I keep wanting to hear Edge go up one or two octaves at the end, like the live versions of One or Please. Still, the buildup is great.

"Well produced, well executed but not a home run."

SOE 19: Back To The Studio Part II

Nothing groundbreaking, but pretty promising still: the chorus is not too saccharine, and there is a nice build-up to the (somewhat extended, instrumental) outro. We'll see!

    Trump General Discussion VII

Indeed. Democrats will win by turning out the vote, not by convincing people who think voting for Trump is a reasonable choice--reason has no sway on them.

One can only hope. I thought the same after W., and yet here we are.

Currently having a "Thrisis". Anybody ever had this?

I think it's a pretty common feeling. Some thoughts: Basics: before embarking on anything else, make sure that you've got the basics covered: 1) you sleep well; 2) you eat well; and 3) you exercise regularly. These three affect mood and life philosophy a lot. Location: small towns can be...

Coldplay - LP7: A Head Full of Dreams

Alright, gave this a first listen. I quite enjoyed Birds (except the abrupt ending) and fully expect Hymn to the Weekend (and maybe Fun) to be huge once it's released as a radio single. Amazing Day and Everglow are classic Coldplay. I don't think I'll be returning to this much.

    U2 Montreal Rant!

I get it, but honestly, U2 is known for elaborate stage designs, and has been for more than 20 years. Doing a bit of research on what the stage setup looks like before pulling the trigger on a pair of tickets is pretty standard procedure for this band. Especially if they warn you on the website...

    U2 Montreal Rant!

This is the right hand side of the ticket. It was also written as you purchased them, but I don't have a screenshot of that. Pretty clear ;)

    U2 Montreal Rant!

The tickets you bought were pretty clearly marked 'obstructed view', and were priced accordingly. Evenko and U2 made it pretty clear.

Terrific show. I had managed to escape most of the tour hype and Interference before the show, so came in with only a limited understanding of what the stage would look like. Needless to say I was very, very happy. I would say this was my favourite show of all the tours I've attended (Elevation...

    Early song rankings

Quite difficult at this stage, but let's give it a try - partly as a record of my initial impressions: 1. Sleep Like a Baby Tonight 2. The Troubles 3. Raised by Wolves 4. This is Where You Can Reach Me 5. Every Breaking Wave 6. Song for Someone 7. Cedarwood Road 8. Iris 9. Volcano 10. The...

    The Troubles - Song Discussion

Terrific song. The outro is a bit short, however. But overall a stellar song, easily among the best.

The Miracle (of Joey Ramone) - Song Discussion

Love the intro and especially when the drums kick in. The rest of the song is alright, but it doesn't appeal to me that much compared to other tracks on the album. A decent opener though.

This Is Where You Can Reach Me Now - Song Discussion

The verses are highly reminiscent of 1980s U2, while the chorus is pure Broken Bells. Love it.

Sleep Like A Baby Tonight - Song Discussion

My favourite so far. Love it when that dirty guitar kicks in after the first chorus.
